¡á March 1989 Proposal by Reverend Moon, Ik-hwan
At his visit to Pyongyang, Reverend Moon proposed to jointly publish ¡°Unified Unabridged Korean Language Dictionary¡± and North Korean Leader Kim, Il Sung agreed to the proposal.


¡á April 2004 Written Agreement regarding dictionary compilation
Toward One Korea from South Korea and Minjok Hwahae Hyupeuhoe from North Korea signed the written agreement regarding dictionary compilation in Yeongil, China.


¡á December 2004 South Korean Joint Compilation Committee launched
11 members were selected including Committee Chair Mr. Go, Eun


¡á February 2005 Gyeoremal-keunsajeon Launching Ceremony
Joint Compilation Committee members from South and North Korea officially launched the project by holding an opening ceremony in Mt. Geumgang.


¡á July 2005 Joint Compilation Guidelines
At the 2nd regular meeting (July 9th - 12th, 2005) in Pyongyang, joint compilation guidelines were presented and approved.


¡á January 2006 Incorporation
In order to expand the project into a corporation, inaugural ceremony was held. 12 Board of Directors were appointed including Board President Go, Eun. Registered as the incorporated organization.


¡á April 2007 Declaration of Joint Board Governing Laws
The corporation became the first one among inter-Korean civic organizations governed and supported by the law.


¡á 2008 [To Be Completed] The House of Gyeoremal
At this soon-to-be-built structure in Gaesong, North Korea, the joint compilation committee members are to work on the dictionary.


¡á 2008 Entry Words Selection
Following detailed guidelines, all the entry words will be chosen after joint reviews.


¡á 2009 Wrap-up Research for New Words
New vocabularies will be added after researching literature archives and conducting field investigations.


¡á 2011 Finish Unifying Writing Conventions
Major differences in the rules of writing and spoken conventions such as the names for consonants and vowels, the order of letters and other rules will be ironed out.


¡á 2012 Finish Definition Writing
Definition writing will be completed following detailed guidelines for definitions


¡á 2013 Publish Gyeoremal-keunsajeon
Gyeoremal-keunsajeon will list over 300,000 entry words.
Afterwards, a revised/enlarged edition will be developed in accordance with electronic version and topical dictionaries.
